ROUTE DESCRIPTION

This fascinating route through the surrounding woods starts and finishes in the quiet village of Robledo de la Guzpeña where we constantly feel the presence of the limestone massif of Peñacorada, with its height of 1.831m.

Thanks to the great interest and the tireless teamwork of the inhabitants of Robledo to recuperate the old paths, we can enjoy a pleasant walk through oak woods, alternating with areas of relict Holm Oak grove, blocks of stones and Karst rock formations.

The route goes up the stream of Hervencia through a centenary oakwood to its source, in a more open area with less vegetation to the east of Peñacorada, where birds of prey such as the Griffon Vulture or the Golden Eagle are visible. The path continues through a spot with striking Karst formations (las Botijuelas) until it returns to the wood, where we can see forest birds such as the Eurasian Woodcock, Cuckoo, Common Firecrest or the Northern Goshawk. At sunset we can see the flying figure and hear the call of the Nightjar.
