CEREAL PLANE

The cereal planes are extensive worked or cultivated areas, mostly yielding cereals such as barley, wheat and corn. An important feature of this system is the lack of tree vegetation which has led to a specialisation of the birds living in this area. They nest directly on the ground and have plumage of colours which camouflage them with the ground so they are not easily seen.

This typical agricultural medium in the community is mostly found in comarcas such as Tierra de Campos, Los Overos o La MoraƱa and houses species which are practically exclusive to this area such as the bustard, the Little Bustard, the Pin-tailed Sandgrouse and Eurasian Stone-curlew. The Hen Harrier and Montagu's Harrier, kestrels and Short-eared Owl are also common to this area.
