ROUTE DESCRIPTIONThis simple route connects various types of countryside within a distance of a few kilometres; cereal cultivations on the plains, rocky outcrops, and the riparian vegetation of small wetlands; all of them along the valley of the Tormejón stream, a tributary of the River Eresma. The route starts in the municipal district of Miguel Ibáñez, and heads northest towards the valley of the River Eresma. No sooner has it left the village than we come to a very pleasant recreation area situated in a poplar grove, also the chapel of the Virgen de Prados, and a wetland which provides a home to various species of aquatic birdlife, such as Eurasian Coots and Mallards. The route continues between cultivations and limestone outcrops, to the chapel of the Virgen del Tormejón, allowing us to observe a large number of rock-nesting birds, like the Red-billed Chough and the Eurasian Crag Martin, as well as species associated with moorlands like Crested Larks, Kestrels, Linnets, Kites and “tordos negros”. The route returns to Miguel Ibáñez after crossing the stream with its riverside vegetation and then passing along a short section of abandoned railway track.
