ROUTE DESCRIPTIONStarting at Cuevas de Provanco, this route goes along a part of the valley of the River Botijas before it flows into the River Duero near Peñafiel, in the north of the province of Segovia. The route climbs rapidly to reach an area of plots of vines and fruit trees, from where one gets a wonderful panorama of the valley of the River Botijas. By the Molino Quemado the track approaches the course of the river as it runs between limestone walls passing through a mature wood of Portuguese Oaks. The valley widens giving views of birds of prey like the Griffon Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Peregrine Falcon and Golden Eagle, as well as other birds which inhabit the stony slopes such as the Black-eared Wheatear, Black Redstart and Stonechat. On the way back to the village the route diverts across a high area known as Los Robles, before finishing between cultivated areas and pastures at Cuevas de Provanco.
